Stainless Steel and Polythene

Frozen in sterile silence
Watch the water fall drop by drop
Heart beats jump across the screen
Marking time like the ticking of a clock
Hour on hour force fed survival
Foreign fluid flowing through my veins
No longer a man, an empty shell
Never able to feel pleasure or pain

Chorus:
All the wonders of modern man
Keep me hanging by a thread
Life and death a flick of a switch away
Just who decides when I’m better off dead?
Man and machine
Stainless steel and polythene

Lilies in bedside vigil
Watch the faces pass one by one
No smiles long given up hope
In their eyes I see I’m already gone

Chorus:
All the wonders of modern man … stainless steel and polythene
Keep me hanging by a thread
Life and death a flick of a switch away … stainless steel and polythene
Just who decides when I’m better off dead?
Man and machine Stainless steel and polythene

Bridge:
I miss spring time in Savannah
Spanish moss hanging from the trees
Dappled light stains the fountain
Cape Jasmine in the breeze
I miss her sweet sweet smile
She could melt me with a kiss
We were so young and bullet proof
I never dreamt it would end like this

Chorus:
All the wonders of modern man … stainless steel and polythene
Keep me hanging by a thread
Life and death a flick of a switch away … stainless steel and polythene
Just who plays god when I’m better off dead?
Man and machine
Stainless steel and polythene
Man and machine Stainless steel and polythene
Frozen in sterile silence
Watch the water fall drop by drop …
