Stones

Restless days and bourbon soaked nights
I get lost in reminiscing
Sorting through my jigsaw past
There are so many pieces missing
Friends and lovers come and gone
Like fireworks left in a blaze
I miss her smile I miss those days

Chorus:
Stones … So many things I could have done
Those little words I didn’t say
Stones… So many chances I let pass
As pride got in my way
Stones
So many stones,

Travel Trunks tattered and torn
Packed with dreams to overflowing
Fragments of a shattered past
Was there no way to stop her going
Was I careless with her heart?
Blind to her needs, distant somehow
If I had known then what I know now

Chorus:
Stones … So many things I could have done
Those little words I didn’t say
Stones… So many chances I let pass
As pride got in my way
All those stones I left unturned
Stones
So many stones

Bridge:
Now I would move a mountain
Clear a canyon floor
Leave no stone unturned
To be with you and hold you close once more

Chorus:
Stones … So many things I could have done
Those little words I didn’t say
Stones… So many chances I let pass
As pride got in my way
All those stones I left unturned
So much water passed beneath those bridges that we had burned
Stones
So many stones,
Stones
Stones
